10,000 miles

She’s done!

Needs some fine tuning but fully reassembled and took it for a very short test ride this evening.

Went out on my road bike this morning for 34 miles on the greenway. Beautiful day for a ride. Can’t wait to take this new old bike out for a ride.

Here is my Garelli Strada I pulled out of the old shed I am replacing late yesterday afternoon. Not sure if I still have manual, but think it was 23" model if I remember correctly. It was under a part of the old shed roof that leaked badly and the chain has rusted through and is broken. Plenty of work to get it rehabbed back into shape.

Nice. Let us know how it goes. If it’s been wet for years, you’ll probably want to rebuild/ replace the wheel bearings and the bottom bracket.

New bikes are great, but old ones can be just as fun.

You should work out a deal with Spur's Addiction...help him with the shed he wants in exchange for help refurbishing your bike.

Took the bike on it’s inaugural ride yesterday.

This was my first Mt Bike I bought back in college. Many memories on this bike from all across the country. Glad to give it new life as a gravel bike.

30 is impressive, I've yet to hit that level. My longest ride is 26+. Good job.

Yeah, it is. I trained for a 40-mile bike-a-thon back in the day on my Schwinn before going to the lighter Strada. In terms of weight, the difference was like night and day and at the time I thought the Schwinn was too heavy for the 40-mile ride. A female friend and I rented two Diamondback bikes some years ago and I liked the six-speed gearing on the mountain bike much better.

Man, I need to get my truck and the Strada roadworthy again so I can trek out a little over the summer. I should be able to take the broken chain to a bike shop in Columbia and get a replacement off the shelf or have one made.

If you're close to Cayce I recommend this guy. He's been working on my bike for several years.

Worked-out with weights again Saturday afternoon. Installed the Google Sheets app on my I-Phone on Sunday, so now I have a decent workout card solution.

Ran a 23:45 the other day and am making 15-16 minutes my goal for 1.5 miles on the treadmill. Benching 15-lb dumbbells now to when I used to do 50-55 on a regular basis when I was in a regular routine. Taking it easy while I am getting a good base back.

Haven't gotten to squats yet and those are kinda goofy after you have been sitting at a desk all day; have to be careful with my back.

Yeah - It's best not to hit it too hard when starting weight training or any exercise program. Overdo it too quick too soon and a risk an injury- that will set you back to worse then before you started. Best to take it slow initially and gradually build up.
