Coach Beamer Sunday night conference call Gamecocks
Sept. 11, 2023The Gamecocks coming off their first win of the season, coach Shane Beamer visited with the media for about 15 minutes Sunday night prior to a 6:30 PM practice. The Gamecocks took care of business Saturday night against Furman at Williams-Brice Stadium, and next up is two-time defending national champion and top-ranked Georgia. The Bulldogs are favored by 24.5 points.
Key comments from Beamer:
- Hopes to get Anderson and Geer back this week, both probable, everyone else on the injured list is questionable at this point.
- Doesn’t have to say much to Legette, he’s a hard worker, just tells him how much he appreciates him.
- Yards per carry not want they wanted last night but they were over 100 yards, so that’s an improvement.
- Sellers brings an element that is hard for teams to prepare for, but Rattler playing so well hard to take him off the field. Doty was second QB in last night and did some decent things.
- Kilgore has come in and proven he’s a “stud”. Making plays at point of attack, tackles in the open field; Collier is their third corner and continues to get better.
- Baugh and Babalade both played well in their time in last night, thought line protection was good for the most part, overall line play was a step forward..
- Knows the challenge this week in Athens but the message to the team is it’s about us, focus on things to get better, they’ll be excited about going there to play.
