Former South Carolina wide receiver Shaq Roland could return to the Gamecocks football program and USC would take him back provided things work out academically, according to multiple sources.
Roland, who left after the 2014 season, attended FCS Winston-Salem State this academic year, but did not play football, leaving him with a year of eligibility on the gridiron.
To return to the Gamecocks, Roland would have to have graduated from college and come in as a graduate transfer.
Roland, a former Lexington High star, was the top overall prospect in the state of South Carolina in the Class of 2012. He caught 56 passes for 891 yards and 10 touchdowns during his Gamecocks career.
Roland told the South Carolina network on Tuesday he was "highly interested" in returning to USC.
