With the regular season in the books and only SEC Tournament play left before the field of 64 is announced, South Carolina is still projected to be a national seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Gamecocks (42-13), SEC East champions, are one of four teams from the conference projected as a top eight by both D1Baseball and Baseball America.

Perfect Game has South Carolina as the No. 7 national seed with in-state rival Coastal Carolina coming to Columbia as the two-seed and Duke as the three seed. The Gamecocks would face Kennesaw State on the opening day and the winner from the Columbia Regional would face the winner of N.C. State’s regional the following weekend.

Baseball America has the Gamecocks as the No. 6 national seed with several local schools in the four-team mix. Two-seed UNC Wilmington and three-seed Georgia Tech would square off on the first day. South Carolina would face four-seed Kennesaw State.

Interestingly, Baseball America has South Carolina lined up with the Clemson Regional with the Tigers a potential Super Regional matchup for a berth in the College World Series.

South Carolina begins SEC Tournament play on Wednesday and will face the winner of Georgia and Ole Miss.
