Iran: US build-up of forces

If we have not accomplished anything else besides killing Ayatollah Khamenei, we now know that Iran has developed Ballistic missiles that can hit Europe.
We have no reason to trust them. We need to stay until we are sure that their nuclear program is no more.
If IRGC is in control, then we must do what ever is necessary to remove the enriched Uranium. Even if that means flattening all their bridges and power plants. Even if that means destroying their Oil producing capabilities. Eventually IRGC will have to give up.
But in the mean time, we will still have to suffer the higher gas prices. At least our stock market leveled out.
Or, maybe we should just send in the Seals and Delta Force and get the uranium out ourselves. They would probably have to kill most of IRGC troops to get to it, but they are special enough they could do it.

Remains to be seen if they blink and negotiate. I do not think they will give up their nuke ambition that easily. I think they will hold out longer then most people expect.
They've spent years planning for this. We greatly underestimated the situation. We are in a pickle.

So what's the answer then? Allow them to develop nukes with the ability to hit the US and hope they don't? Send them more billions in cash?

Shrug when they wipe out Israel?

Same answer we have for the DPRK with their nucs: live with it.
Same for Israel.

I'm not concerned that Israel is going to launch a "first shot" nuclear strike on ANYONE.

N. Korea although whacked out isn't the death culture that the Iranian regime embraces. They embrace the notion that it is their mission to start WWIII and wash the planet in blood so their 12th Iman prophet will return.

They also publicly state that their intention and purpose is to "drive Israel" into the sea as well as to destroy the "Great Satan" (the USA). I believe it's folly to equate Iran having nuclear bombs to other countries having nuclear bombs when they have demonstrated repeatedly their blatant disregard for human life.

No easy answer to that hypothetical but if anything this has further cemented their desire to have nukes if for no other reason but to deter these type attacks. They’re cuddling up with Putin and China more than ever. It’s not for the friendship. It’s a real mess for sure.

Solid argument but they will work even harder to find nukes one way or another. This might delay that effort but solidify their belief in the need.

I don't see how their desire for nukes could be any more enhanced than it is now. As for Russia they have clearly demonstrated by their continued futility in Ukraine that they're not in a position to help much.

China is dependent on trade with us to keep their economy running so I don't believe they're in much of a position to do anything either. Both China and Russia's weapons systems have once again proven to be inferior to ours.

I agree that they'll continue to try if we leave now. We must finish the job.

Our's have proven to be incapable of stopping Iraninan drone and missile strikes, while Ukraine has emerged as the world's leader in anti-drone and long range drone warfare. And Iranian long range missile capability is years ahead of Russia's.

The IRGC regime was built for resilience. They were fully aware of what the west and the IDF could do and built a defense that would make it too costly for us to destroy them. Epic US intel failure.

Note that none of the middle east countries recently attacked by Iran, are jumping into the fight or eager to try and topple the regime.

We cannot discount other players like Turkey & Pakistan (who already have nucs). It's also possible someone like the Saudis will acquire nucs if they feel the need.

China is watching and has to be alarmed as to how hard an invasion of the ROC will be. They have their own internal issues including declining population, that do not make a hot war with Taiwan attractive.

Sounds like they are trying to get another deal approved with Iran, but I just feel that Iran will renege and the war will start right back up.
Operation "Project Freedom" finally had ships going through the Strait but we stopped it as part of this agreement.
If Iran signs the new deal, President trump will stop the blockade on Iranian shipping.
Unless Iran gives up the enriched Uranian they already have, I do not know how you can trust them to end their nuclear program. A 30 day deal to have more nuclear talks is probably going to be a waste of time. It will just give them 30 more days to bury the stuff deeper and hide it better.
Our stock market is already shooting up and oil prices are already dropping. They must trust Iran more than I do. Either way, Iran might sign the deal and our gas prices will come back down for the 30 days.

It will be interesting to learn the details of this deal, if it comes to fruition. Will we have a better deal then the status quo prior to the war?
  • Regime Change - No
  • Straight of Hormuz open and oil flowing again - Likely
  • Iran without a Nuclear weapons program - I have my doubts. We shall see.

Trump getting booted out of that meeting when they were trying to find the second F-15 crewman was good in that he doesn't want a long, drawn-out war with POWs/hostages, but it also gives Iran a very good reason to ride it out, so nothing will change after hostilities finally cease for good.

Tehran had to be punished for the October 7th attacks and it was, but now they know they can have us by the balls by simply closing the Strait of Hormuz when they feel like it. The more things change, the more they remain the same.
