wes mitchell and chris clark from gamecockcentral went live and said cant speak on the details of what exactly is happening with michael smith but that from their perspective theres too many hoops to jump through so they dont think its likely he'll be back playing with the gamecocks this year.

SC adds another QB to the roster...Lucian Anderson III from Bowling Green. He threw for 245 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in 2025. Also rushed 29 times for 161 yards and a touchdown.

I don't think Syracuse will/can prevent him from going to SC; however, they can enforce any NIL grants if he signed a contract. At the end of the day, it would be to try and protect themselves from athletes signing legally binding agreements and then just leaving for a "better" deal.
michael smith committed to ole miss. i think the speculation out there is that we were unwilling to pay his buyout and ole miss was so off he goes. if thats the case beamer's position may have been you quit on us last year, we'll let you come back but paying your buyout is a bridge too far.
That’s good for him. Not a fan of allowing a player back in these circumstances. Quit 2 teams in a matter of weeks.
I really think CSB and staff did a really good job in the Portal. Now I hope they are able to make these players all be big assets to the team. I understand some of the OL will just be backups, but hopefully coach Clements will get them all in shape and ready to make us a much better team. I would have liked to see another TE, but Drag may be just what we needed.
we lead the nation in returning offensive line snaps. one can point out we brought in 4 experienced guys last season and it didnt work out. why it will be different this year is more experience across the board at every position. that and we know theres more high end talent with peak and poku likely as well. an experienced successful oc on this level with an oline coach who are on the same page should pay immediate dividends. at wr, more experience and production than we had entering 2025 and more size.
edge probably a little less experience on the two deep but more experience and versatility overall across the dline. lb returns the 3 "starters" who will now all be juniors or seniors. at corner cisse will be missed but now youre starting a junior and senior at cb. at safety two seniors who were in the rotation last year along with a junior in david bucey. also bring in a veteran accurate kicker.
