Prayers during winter storm

After Helene, the forecasters all predict the worst, however, it could be really bad for some of us.
I know it does not look so bad here in Aiken anymore. maybe less than 1/4", but for those further upstate, they may have serious issues. I always hated ice storms because of the power outages, etc. when people need their heat.
I have a couple gas cans filled up with non-ethanol and got 3 bottles of propane. After Helene I had bought a new generator that runs on either. My wife has plenty of food stocked up and being we have a gas stove helps there.
I am praying that I will have plenty of gas for my boat this spring and plenty of fuel for my griddle and grill and will not need any this weekend.
I am praying for all residents of SC and the other states hit and a special prayer for my acquaintances on here.
Not sure how bad the roads might be, but if you are in bad need, feel free to get in touch. I will get an email if you respond to this.

Glad I just had all of the old pines on my rear property line dropped recently. Expensive but worth it.

I remember hearing so many limbs nearby when the wind would blow during the last one we had several years ago.

Speaking of collecting email, but in an unrelated way...would someone like to start a collection of email addresses for the regulars on the board? After no word from Henry for so long, I fear that one day this board may simply go poof and disappear. It would be nice for someone to have emails in that case for those interested in knowing what other board people end up migrating to...or just to stay connected with the acquaintances we've met on this board.

Hopefully it won't be as bad in the Columbia area as they have forecasted.

Everybody stay safe.

Everyone stay save. Up here in Raleigh, they are saying 1/2 to 1 inch of freezing rain / ice.

This could be really bad. I’m hoping the forecasters are wrong on this storm.

In between Gvl and Spartanburg. Never seen lines like I have the last 3 days at area ace hardware stores and other places for propane and generators. Lines were 30-50 deep at some stores for gens and propane refills. Big props to Ace hardware local owners, many have stepped up and procured extra stock from out of state. People are in a bit of a panic but as mentioned above, most recall issues after the hurricane in 2024. Of course, like with anything that can scare people, the local yocal upstate news are working it for everything they can. Measles hasn’t been working to they’re happy to milk the weather.

Yeah, in our subdivision there has been a neighborhood FB page dedicated to identifying locations with generators in stock for sale. I understand preparedness, but some of this activity borders on the ridiculous. According to the FB page, at 5 am, there were over 100 would be purchasers in line at a local Home Depot because the rumor was generators were delivered over night at that store. SMDH.

Got a light dusting of about 1/4" overnight last night, which melted, but got an ice storm that lasted about an hour or so during the Pats/Broncos game.

Now it's raining and the temp is 36*. Not sure what I'll see in the morning.

About 1/2" overnight this morning, but temp was above freezing and my driveway was clear this morning.

The power at the house blipped last night but that was about it. A limb must have bounced off a power line the next road over because I heard the transformer down the street arcing. No issues since.

We got lucky in the Upstate this weekend...I'm guessing maybe 0.75" or so of ice. My backyard was solid white, and could support my weight without breaking through...dogs weren't too happy about the ice though. No power outages, and from what I've heard, not really an issue in the Upstate. So definitely thankful for that. Got the ice of of my driveway today and was able to drive around, so definitely on the easy side on the weather event scale.

Mostly sleet in Raleigh. Got lucky as they were calling for up to an inch of freezing rain. Had we got that we would have lost power for sure. With it being mostly sleet, it didn’t accumulate on power lines and trees as much.

No problems here in Gaston, about a 1/4" of sleet /freezing rain. No power interruptions, just very cold. I went outside about an hour ago to feed my dogs and my back porch thermometer was reading 20 degrees.

17°F this morning in Aiken. 10° with the wind chill. Still only 22° right now.
Calling for 33° Saturday and a chance of snow and then 15° that night so that snow would stick around some.

Yep seeing those too. I’m hoping it’s 70 degrees tomorrow morning. Coastal NC forecast for foot of snow.
Yep, I saw that Outer Banks may have a couple of hours of blizzard like conditions with near zero visibility...sounds like not a good day to out on the boat.

Been getting dry powder for a few hours now. The forecast for my area is 1-3" and that will happen if it keeps up the next two days.

27* right now.
