BOTTOM 2 - Grayson Greiner goes down on a slider. Bright hits a hard ground ball to deep short. Lizanich makes a nice play to glove it but throw is a little wide. Ruled an infield hit. Arendas goes down on strikes as well but Elliott Caldwell is hit by a pitch to put two on with two outs. Tanner English up. He goes ahead in the count 2-1 after taking a fastball inside. English hits one off the end of the bat right to the third baseman, who steps on the bag for the final out. No score.
TOP 3 - Lead-off hitter Chong strikes out swinging to begin the inning. Lizanich pops out to Mooney in foul territory behind the bag. Matroni grounds out to short. Quick inning of just six pitches for Britt.
BOTTOM 3 - Two quick outs for Kehner as well. Mooney pops up to short and Schrock grounds out to second. Pankake gets the barrel to the ball but his line drive is right at the third baseman. Only one hit in this game so far and that one didn't leave the infield. No score here at Carolina Stadium.

TOP 4 - First two runners reach on singles. First goes to the left side. Pankake makes a diving stop but can't get the throw to first in time. Single through the left side puts two on with no outs for five-hole hitter Midkiff, who sees the count go to 1-1. Midkiff gets the 1-2 bunt down advancing the runners. Britt continues to skate trouble. Martin hits a ball back to the mound and catches the runner leaning off of third base. Runs right at the runner and makes him decide whether to go to home or third. Perfectly done by the pitcher as he gets Paul sliding back into third base. Two down. McRae pops out lazily to Bright in right field to end the inning. No score.
BOTTOM 4 - Kyle Martin goes down swinging on a 63 mph curve ball. Greiner grounds out to third base. Hard to square this guy up. Bright swipes second base on an 0-1 curve ball to Arendas. It's now 0-2 with two outs. And Arendas goes down on a big-breaking curve ball as well. No score.
TOP 5 - Eight-hole hitter Long drops a single to left field. No bunt, but some hit-and-run action by Motroni. He pops out to right and Long scrambles back. They've dropped two sac bunts today and haven't scored either time. Tried a little something different. Chong strikes out looking on a fastball adjudged to be on the outside corner on an 0-2 pitch. Two down now for Lizanich. He lines a single to right center. Runner was going to third the whole way but ball rolls through English. No error scored as no runner was able to advance. Britt falls behind 3-0 but works it back to 2-2. Slider down and away. Zebedis doesn't offer and the count goes full. Fisted in the air up the third base line. Britt runs in and makes the catch to help himself. No score.
BOTTOM 5 - Elliott Caldwell starts off the inning with his first career hit - a single back up the middle and into centerfield. English pops up his push bunt and it's caught by the first baseman. Caldwell makes it back to the bag easily. Mooney walks on five pitches bringing up Max Schrock, who goes ahead 2-1. He fans at a couple of curve balls after just missing a fastball. That's two strikeouts for Schrock today. Runners move up on a balk, so the Gamecocks have two in scoring position for Pankake. Count goes full and he goes down on a 68 mph curve ball. That's six strikeouts for Kehner. No score through 5 innings.

TOP 6 - Zebedis flies out to center to begin the inning but Midkiff singles back up the middle on the first pitch of his at-bat to put one on with one out for Brandon Martin. That'll end Curt Britt's day as Jerry Meyers calls in Josh Reagan. Martin drops a beautiful bunt up the third base line. Pankake tries to let it roll foul but it stays just fair. Reagan gets McRae swinging on what was the worst at-bat of the day by any hitter on either team. Eight-hole hitter Long now up. He lines a 3-1 pitch to center but near right at English for the final out. No score.
BOTTOM 6 - Kyle Martin serves a single to left center. Not sure what he's thinking, but he decides to try for second base. Brandon Martin (no relation) comes up throwing and Martin is out. Greiner walks on five pitches. Bright turns on a pitch and hits it high and deep down the left field line. The ball hit off the top of the wall and bounced way back towards the infield. Greiner gets a great read on it and scores easily from first base. Bright has four doubles, one in each game. Arendas grounds out to first and that'll end the day for Kehner. What a great first collegiate appearance for him. He has to be thrilled. Gets a nice round of applause from the USC fans. LHP Sanders comes in and gets Caldwell to foul out down the right field line. ... Brian Buscher replaces Adrian Morales as the first base coach. Gamecocks lead 1-0
TOP 7 - Three up, three down for Josh Reagan. 9-1-2 goes lineout, strikeout, ground out. Carolina leads 1-0
