Looking over our list so far, it strikes me as rather pedestrian. I know you can’t make too mich of recruit rankings but sometimes they are right (for example, Clowney). As expected when trying rate thousands of players, the ranking systems sometimes miss big. However, they are generally a pretty decent indicator. With that in mind, I’m not seeing anyone on our recruiting list to get overly excited about. Our highest rated player would be Larenz Bryant Thus far, we are rated as the #16 class…just not quite the jump I’d hope to see after 2 consecutive 11-2 seasons and top 10 finishes. Our class rated 12, 24, 19 and 18 from 2009-2012. So 16 isn’t much of a shift. I guess this shows it’s going to take many years of sustained success to crack into the top 10. Heck, SoCal had a lousy season and they are still at #7 an somehow brining in six 5* recruits…six!
Anyway, I’m sure our coaches know what they are doing and recruiting the kind of players they want, but hopefully our winning will translate into a significant boost in recruiting one of these days.
