Northwestern 3 star WR Ger-Cari Caldwell (6-4 193) completed his journey from a relative unknown in the recruiting world to an SEC signee Wednesday morning when he inked his letter-of-intent with USC.
Caldwell narrowed his decision to the Gamecocks and Tennessee. He once was committed to East Carolina and he also visited Baylor and Wake Forest.
In the end, it was the comfort level Caldwell had with the Gamecocks that finalized his decision, “Felt like it was just home. It was the right place for me. The relationships with the coaches, players, everything. It just led me to South Carolina.”
Caldwell finished his career at Northwestern with 92 catches for 1305 yards and 9 touchdowns. He was a member of the Shrine Bowl team this past season. Caldwell thinks he can translate the success he had in high school to the next level and make an immediate impact, “Me and Coach Bobo were discussing it. Third downs and big plays. He was comparing me to AJ Green, how he used him back at Georgia. I love that comparison.”
Caldwell gives the Gamecocks three-wide receiver signees in the class along with two tight ends.
