DE Bryan Thomas Jr. (6-2 215) of Winter Garden, FL wrapped up his official visit to USC Monday and flew back home with his family. He will not make a decision today as he had planned, and that’s because his visit with USC went so well. He had narrowed his choices to the Gamecocks and West Virginia. He visited the Mountaineers in June and believed nothing could top that experience, so he was leaning that way before his trip to Columbia.
“At first, I was like, nothing could be better than West Virginia. That visit was amazing,” Thomas said moments after deplaning in Miami. “Now, they are like even. Right next to each other. Now, my decision is like really hard.”
Thomas said the Gamecock coaches and players made him feel right at home and at ease with the program.
“It was very nice,” Thomas Jr. said. “Coaches all gave me a good review and all that. They said they watched my film from my previous games, and they liked how I played, and they want me at South Carolina. I asked most of the players at the position when I get there, they said they like it a lot. They said the coaches are nice. The other players they are friends with are cool. Everyone gets together as one, they play like a family.”
Thomas attended the season opening game Saturday night against Eastern Illinois and got a first-hand look at gameday around Williams-Brice Stadium.
“Those fans are crazy. It gets loud at that stadium,” Thomas said. “The academic part, they have everything. They have tutors for you, people who are there to help you.”
As for a decision timeline, Thomas said Monday night he’s not sure. A decision could come as early as Tuesday, or it could be later in the week before one is made.
