Gamecocks have their No. 2 QB Ryan Hilinski

August 20, 2019

True freshman Ryan Hilinski will be the Gamecocks’ No. 2 passer behind Jake Bentley (VIEW ARTICLE)

Can DAK transfer NOW? Would someone take him NOW?

He could transfer now, but unless there is some extreme, extenuating circumstance, the NCAA will not give him a waiver to be eligible immediately, and even if they did, he'll have missed most all of any other program's fall camp preparation for the upcoming season, so his chances of being a major contributor and competing for major snaps or starts for 2019 anywhere other than at South Carolina is very slim.

But most likely he would be required to sit out a calendar year as a transfer per NCAA rules minus that waiver, so his best scenario may be to stay with the team for this season, try to be a contributor at another position or see if something happens (injury to a QB ahead of him) that gives him more opportunity at QB, and then transfer after the season. That's the similar approach that Jalen Hurts took with Alabama after he lost his starting spot....

Congratulations to Ryan on earning his spot.  As far as Dak goes, I sure hope something good works out for this young man.  He is a very well grounded young man and I think he could be such an asset to our team as a leader.  I would love to see him play the slot, return kicks or even play some DB I think we could do well at any and all of these.

We will know sooner then later. Hope it is a move that fits him best, hopefully here he could be a player here, just need to find a spot that Dak would like. But he to me  he has that QB position in his blood. Hope he sticks with the good guys. Wish him the best what ever he decides. GO COCKS!!
