Some things I took from the full team drills today:
-Jared Shaw had the play of the day when he broke on a ball and took it to the endzone for a pick-6. The whole defensive side of the team got real worked up after this play.
-Clowney really looks special on a football field. On one play I saw the o-line attempt to double team him and he managed to just glide between the 2 of them without slowing down one step. He's got to do it on the field during games, but I would have a hard time believing he won't be one of the top pass rushers in the nation this season.
-Although Kadetrix Marcus had 2 bad moments today (he made a great break on a ball only to drop a potential pick-6 and he gave up a long TD to Bruce Ellington on a ball he had a chance to break up the pass) he was very active when he was on the field and really seemed to be everywhere today.
-Damiere Byrd showed some toughness when he popped right up after taking a pretty good shot from Brison Williams that knocked him off his feet. He came back a couple of plays later and did not look tentative at all, laying out for a ball down the sidelines that was just out of his reach.
-After the first couple of practices I thought Dylan Thompson should be the #2 QB, I still think that should be the case. Of the backups I just feel the most optimistic about good things happening when Dylan is in. Right now I think he's the best mix of ability and knowledge of the offense out of the backups.
-Sheldon Royster looked a little lost out there today. There were multiple times the coaches were yelling to him from the sidelines because he wasn't lined up right or was covering the wrong guy. He's missed so much practice time over the last year I'll still be interested to see him practice full time in the fall.
-Brandon Wilds had a nice little run today around the edge and had a good catch out of the backfield for a good gain. He really looks quick and powerful when he turns upfield with the ball.
