2014 ESPN 150 Recruiting Rankings Released

Thursday marked the release of the ESPN 150 recruiting rankings, which provide a database for the top high school football prospects in the 2014 class.Headlining the list is 5-star running back Leonard Fournette from Saint Augustine High School (La.), whose combination of speed and power at 6'1" and 232 pounds has netted him scholarship offers from many of the nation's marquee college football programs. The elite prospects are predominantly defensive playmakers, though, with at least eight of the top-11 athletes occupying that side of the ball. Below is the basic information regarding Fournette and the other 10 5-star recruits:Name Position High School Height, Weight ESPN 150 Grade Leonard Fournette RB Saint Augustine (New Orleans, La.)

Of the most highly coveted players, only safety Quin Blanding has committed at this time. As ESPN indicates, Blanding will play for the University of Virginia next season, as he made his commitment official on Feb. 27.Jabrill Peppers is the standout defensive back, though. In addition to being a ball hawk in the secondary, he has upside to be an offensive contributor as well. He ran for 1,552 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior while catching 20 passes for 337 yards and five more scores (h/t ESPN).The position football fans are frequently most intrigued about is quarterback, and the top recruit on the list is 4-star signal-caller Deshaun Watson. The 6'3" 186-pounder is No. 13 on the ESPN 150 and is a relatively polished passer at this stage of his career.Watson isn't the fleetest of foot, but is athletic enough to run the zone-read option effectively at the high-school level in Gainesville, Ga. He's already off the market, though, having committed to Clemson University back on signing day for the class of 2012, per his scouting report (subscription required). This looks to be an exciting class filled with top-tier talent, and considering the top 10 are still without a college destination, it should make for a captivating recruiting season.
