2016 four-star wide receiver Kelvin Harmon

June 30, 2015

Harmon, who landed an offer from quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus and the Gamecocks following an early June camp performance, recently released a top six.

"If I had to choose an order, I would say, South Carolina, N.C. State, Rutgers, West Virginia, Temple and UNC," Harmon told Friedman.

All six programs, among others, have offered. What does Harmon like about the Gamecocks?

"I just like the environment, the winning tradition," Harmon said. "They've got good coaches with Coach Spurrier and Coach Mangus. I just like their winning tradition, it's a good team."

Harmon's connection with South Carolina's 2016 quarterback commitment, Brandon McIlwain, also plays a major factor.

"One of the main reasons I like them is because of Brandon McIlwain," Harmon said a few weeks ago. "We play seven-on-seven together so I have a good connection with him. I also like the tradition at South Carolina. They are a good team with winning coaches. The campus was nice. The players and the coaches showed a lot of love when I was down there."

Harmon plans to take all five officials in September and October and then make a commitment shortly after. At this point, he says South Carolina is the only school he knows for sure will get an official.

Harmon is considered the No. 47 wide receiver in the country and No. 248 overall prospect by Rivals.com.

Harmon was also a standout at this past weekend Rutgers' 7-on-7 camp leading Friedman to report the following:

Harmon was consistently good on Saturday despite the wet conditions. The final round of the tournament was played inside the practice bubble and Harmon took over the game. He had multiple touchdown catches and used his size and length to his advantage. Throughout the day, Harmon did a lot of damage over the middle and deep down the field.
