2019 commitment pushing teammate toward Gamecocks
April 30, 2018
Cameron Roseman-Sinclair can’t go very long without hearing the South Carolina recruiting pitch from Jaylen Nichols.
Nichols, a 3-star tackle who’s committed to South Carolina’s’ 2019 class, is always chirping about the Gamecocks.
“About every day, every day he’s talking about South Carolina,” Roseman-Sinclair said.
The pitch is simple.
“You know where home is,” Roseman-Sinclair said.
Currently, their home is Myers Park High School in Charlotte.
In December, Nichols committed to South Carolina over an offer from Indiana. Roseman-Sinclair has offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina and Wake Forest. More are likely on the way.
On Sunday, at the Under Armour All-America Camp Series stop in Charlotte, Roseman-Sinclair (6-0, 183) picked up an invitation to the Future 50 Underclassmen Camp.
Clemson, Georgia, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech are also in contact with Roseman-Sinclair, who’s made one visit to South Carolina. He plans to visit Clemson in about a week.
Newly offered offensive lineman
South Carolina is the most recent offer for 2019 lineman Zovon Lindsay, a 3-star defensive tackle from Trinity Christian School in Fayetteville, N.C. The Gamecocks offered him as an offensive lineman.
According to the 247Sports composite, Lindsay (6-4, 266) is the No. 86-ranked defensive tackle in the Class of 2019.
“I’m open to playing offense and a lot of offensive coaches tell me that I could be a top draft pick at left tackle, because I’m so athletic,” Lindsay said. “That’s where I want to go, so if I have to do that, I will.”
The Gamecocks hosted him for the Clemson game and again in March for the Garnet and Black spring game.
“The campus was nice. They have really great academics. They’re on the come-up as a program, so I’m really interested in that,” Lindsay said.
Appalachian State, East Carolina, Kent State, North Carolina State, Virginia and Wake Forest have offered. N.C. State and Wake Forest are also interested in him as an offensive lineman.
Top 2020 QB option
Earlier this spring, when SEC Country stopped by Myrtle Beach (S.C.) High School to meet with Luke Doty, the 2020 quarterback shared details of his recent visit to South Carolina.
On Sunday, Doty (6-2, 190) shared an interesting note about his communiation with Gamecocks quarterback coach Dan Werner.
“It’s always, I’m their guy and they’re going to come after me hard, because I’m an in-state guy,” Doty said. “[Werner] said that I’m at the top of the list right now, and we’re looking to keep it that way.”
North Carolina, N.C. State and Wake Forest also hosted him for visits this spring.
