2019 Offensive Recruiting Class/ Board (Spring Outlook)
QB: Sam Howell (PS), Ryan Hillinski (PS), Taisun Phommachanh (DT), Garrett Schrader (DT).
I really believe Howell and Phommachanh are the two most talented on the board and would probably be the most physically talented QB's on the roster behind Jake Bentley right now. I think Howell's recruitment has turned quiet and it will be interesting to see what happens when it picks up again and our name is in the hat. Phommachanh brings an added dimension with his legs plus a great arm. I wonder what the level of his competition is but he is impressive on film. Because of the fact that he has more mobility then Howell, I think he is the most talented on the board. However, us and every other school in the country is after him, It will be a dog fight to land him. Hillinski is someone who also pops off on film, comes from a winning school with talent around him, and seems interested. I wonder about the proximity to home and how much that will affect him push come to shove. Schrader is the most realistic and brings a solid arm and mobility to the table. I think he is the most likely at this point in the cycle.
Burning question: Can SC land Howell or Phommachanh AND Schrader? Do they settle for Howell or Phommachanh and put all their eggs in that basket in terms of numbers in the class. OR do they opt to take Schrader and possibly another QB or similar or a little lesser talent level.
RB: Quavarius Crouch (ATH), Shyeam McQueen, and Michel Dukes.
This has been a relative quiet position in terms of recruiting chatter outside of Crouch. I personally would love to see us land Crouch OR take both McQueen and Dukes,
Burning question: Does SC land Crouch? I think he is arguably the most important recruit in the class. Bentley is recruiting him the hardest and has a great relationship with him. He is talented enough to be a significant contributor day 1 and is at a position of need. Bentley wants a dominate #1 RB, Crouch IS that guy. Can he land him?
WR: Jordan Haselwood, Jashawn Sheffield, Trey Knox, Traevon Kenion, Jamario Holley (commit), Kenyon Jackson, and Quendarius Jefferson.
Haselwood is a man among boys and is currently committed to UGA. He is currently committed to UGA but has also visited campus numerous times. McClendon is his recuiter. IF SC pulls a flip (which will be very hard to do IMO) I think it will be because of McClendon. Sheffield is an athlete who could play multiple positions in college (I would like to see him at corner/safety) but he is an explosive playmaker with the ball in his hands. Any position we can land him the better. Knox is someone I haven't heard much chatter about. Kenion is someone whose recuritment has seemed to go quiet but we have a chance with. Holley is electric. Make sure he qualifies and stays healthy his senior year. Jackson is a prospect JC raved about and really likes. Big physical WR similar to Alshon Jeffery. Q Jefferson from Hillcrest is similar to Holley and Sheffield but smaller and probably not as talented. Will be interesting if he is a take.
Burning question: How many do we take? J Vann, O Smith, S Smith, C Terrell, B Edwards, and R Davis all possibly come back next season. That is a solid 6 guys and 2 deep at the 3 WR spots if you ask me. With numbers being high on OL and DL this season, do we save a spot or 2 at WR to take some help along the LOS.
TE: Keyshawn Toney (commit), Tyler Fromm
Toney has drawn comparisons to a smaller Jerrell Adams. A very raw athletic TE who is going to develop into a TE who can stretch the field vertically but also help in the run game. Fromm is younger brother of Jake Fromm. Contrary to belief, he seemingly may want to create his own path.
Burning question: Do we take both IF both want to come? and I personally believe the answer is no.
OL: William Harrod, Jaelin Humphries, Warren McClendon, Michael Tarquin, Mark Fox (commit), Jaylen Nichols (commit), Kamren McCray, and Vincent Murphy (commit)
I like the athleticism, talent, and size that the 2019 OL class has. McClendon, Tarquin, Fox (commit), Nichols (commit), and Murphy (commit) are prospects that I believe are most likely to come in the class. McCray seems to be a "fall back" plan if we miss on any other main targets and he has significant upside if he can develop in a college weight program. Haven't heard much on Harrod. Humphries seems to be a UGA/SC battle and it'll be interesting to see what position he wants to play in college. It is possible he wants to play DT and that is something SC can pitch to him to come in and contribute right away. Want to mention the fact that I love Wolford trying to bring in 4-6 OL every cycle and him upgrading the athleticism along the line.

Seems to be an Ohio State lean but SC has positioned themselves to the point that I believe if they can withstand the official visit to Columbus (which comes before his to Columbia (I believe)) that we could land him.
