In the five SEC games played thus far, all five starters are averaging in double figures in points:

Aliyah Boston: 17.6 ppg

Destanni Henderson: 14.0 ppg

Zia Cooke: 13.8 ppg

Victaria Saxton: 12.2 ppg

Brea Beal: 10.6 ppg

I wouldn't expect all five to score 10+ points tonight versus UGA, or for the team as a whole to score over 100 pts for the 3rd consecutive SEC game, either. This game will be sort of a reverse experience for the Gamecocks from playing either Kentucky or Arkansas, in that the Bulldogs come with strong defense. UGA leads the SEC in Scoring Defense, and is 30th nationally, while USC is 4th in Scoring Defense, and 63rd. The Gamecocks meanwhile are 2nd behind only Tennessee in FG % Defense and 35th nationally, while UGA is 4th and 51st, respectively. On Offense, USC is now nearly tied with Arkansas for the conference lead in Scoring Offense, and is 8th in the nation, while UGA is 7th and 47th, averaging about 10 ppg fewer points than the Gamecocks.

UGA is a more balanced team offensively and defensively than either UK or Arky, and always seems to play USC tough in our games. Hopefully the team brings out its "A" game tonight.....

Gamecocks extend their lead to 30-18 at the halftime stoppage. Aliyah Boston leads the way with 11 pts and 5 rebounds, and Zia Cooke looks to be breaking out of her slump with 10 pts. UGA has 12 personal fouls and 15 turnovers at the half, but USC is not far behind with 10 and 12, respectively....

Coach Staley let the bench play most of the 4th Quarter, and they played pretty poorly - UGA out-scored USC 22-12, but the lead was too big to overcome, and the Gamecocks win 62-50 to improve to 11-1, 6-0. The Bulldogs fall to 12-2, 4-2 on the season.

Aliyah Boston led the Gamecocks and secured her 2nd triple-double of her young career, with 16 pts, 11 rebounds, and 10 blocked shots in 31 minutes. Zia Cooke also scored 16 pts along with 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Victaria Saxton added 9 pts, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks, and Brea Beal added 9 pts, 7 boards, and 2 steals.

Jenna Staiti led UGA with 15 pts and 9 rebounds before fouling out. Que Morrison also scored 15 pts, with 7 boards and 2 steals....

In other WCBB / SEC news, Tennessee is up on Connecticut 49-45 through 3 quarters.....

Oops, spoke too soon. Tennessee is now playing like a division II team, and most likely will lose by 20 pts by the end of the game.....

Terrible officiating.  Geez.
This.  There was absolutely no flow or continuity to the game, with all the whistles blown by the refs.  It seemed like there was a whistle almost every time the ball went into the paint.  And I think think for the most part is equally bad for both teams.

I am always very busy this time of year and didn't get to watch the game.

Will have to watch the replay on WatchESPN when I can.

Glad we got the win regardless.

We won pretty easily, even with Dawn deciding to go with LeLe at Point Guard for a lot of the Fourth Quarter.

I was disappointed in our offense, but then I saw where UGA was #1 in the league in total Defense. And even with LeLe leading the offensive meltdown towards the end, we were still 5 points over the average that UGA allows per game.

That made me feel a little better - because we did not have much flow to the Offense.
Any win over UGA is a good one.

Robbie Robinson always posts the games on Youtube usually later the night of the games or if not definitely the next day. Check out his account - he has videos of games going back before last season at least - he has all of last season's games.....

Yep, just about every charge call (both ways) was absolute BS.

It's obvious that pretty much every team we play is going to double or even triple team Boston.  Hopefully we'll continue to be smart enough to continue to pass the ball to someone open (Saxton, Amihere) for the easy bunny when Boston is double/triple teamed.

Tough test - but Vic is looking all business in the pic, just like she was all business against Arky. I think she is ready to kick some home-state opponent ass.
She's got arms like a dude, no wonder we're undefeated in the SEC.  :animated-smileys-sport-131:
