#12 SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS (11-2) AT #19  TEXAS LONGHORNS (10-5)
12:00 P.M. E.T.  |  AUSTIN, TX  |   UFCU DISCH-FALK FIELD

AUSTIN, T.X. -- The South Carolina Gamecocks will try to salvage a win in their series against the Texas Longhorns, and avoid the series sweep, as Carolina and Texas close out the series on Sunday morning (March 14) with an 11 a.m. CT (12 p.m. ET) start time. The game will be televised on the Longhorn Network.

Sunday
South Carolina Julian Bosnic (R-So. LHP) 1-0, 0.90 ERA, 8 BB, 21 SO
Texas Kolby Kubicheck (R-So., RHP) 2-1, 1.93 ERA, 3 BB, 20 SO

The University of South Carolina baseball team got six strikeouts from starting pitcher Brannon Jordan and outhit Texas 7-4, but a pair of home runs in the fifth and an insurance run in the eighth helped the Longhorns to a 3-0 win over the Gamecocks Saturday afternoon (March 13) at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

The two teams traded zeroes for the first four and a half innings. Texas then hit a pair of solo home runs from Peyton Powell and Mitchell Daly to give the Longhorns a two-run advantage.

Texas scored a run in the eighth by way of a balk. The Gamecocks then went in order in the ninth.

The Gamecocks best opportunity to score was in the third when George Callil singled and Brady Allen doubled in the gap in left to open the inning. A ground out comebacker to the pitcher, an intentional walk to load the bases and a double play ended the threat.

Jordan allowed two runs and three hits with the six strikeouts and two walks (one intentional) in the five innings. Jack Mahoney pitched for the second straight night, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings.

Callil, Allen and Josiah Sightler had two hits apiece to lead Carolina's offense.

I continue to be impress by the team defense of both teams.

Texas' shortstop is crazy good and covers the distance very well.

Scored on a WP but I think we’re now 1-17 with RISP.   Someone correct me if that’s wrong.

Two Gamecock batters HBP in that inning.

Bosnic with two walks to lead off the inning.
Bobbles the bunt and bases loaded.  No outs.

We just play stupid baseball. A runner gets picked off and we throw wild. Next batter hits a double to score a run, then a single for another run.

Two unearned runs, and two hits with RISP - matching our total for series in back to back at-bats.
Yep.   Head scratching sometimes.

And another error...

Box score shows 3 but I think we’ve actually had 4

Game about to get away from us.  Wonder how far down we drop after getting swept.

8-2.   I’m out.   Have a great Sunday guys.  Hopefully we get back in track soon but Texas just proving to be the better team this weekend.

Well this was a disappointing weekend...

I think we have promise but we're going to have to grow up fast. On offense it's feast or famine. Our pitching did enough to win the series. We need consistency.

I pruned my crepe myrtle and cleared some brush.

Hopefully we snap out of the slump and get back on track.
