1st Inning:

Not the best start for Farr, to say the least. He walks the first three Gator batters he faces to load the bases. Then a 2-RBI single. He gets a strike-out, fly-out, and fly-out to end the inning, but he got started about 10 minutes after he stepped up on the pitcher's mound.

We had a chance to get a run back - Josiah Sightler hit a 2-out double in the bottom 1st, then advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch, but Wes Clarke struck out for the final out.

2-0 Florida, top 2nd inning.....

2-0 Florida, 2nd inning:

Farr was on point for the 2nd inning - a strikeout and two fly-outs to retire the side in order.

For the bottom 2nd, David Mendham leads off with a double! Andrew Eyster singles to center, and we have Gamecocks on the corners, with 0 outs!

Jeff Heinrich singles to right, scoring Mendham!! Men on 2B and 1B, 0 outs!! 2-1 Florida.

Colin Burgess singles past the pitcher, and bases are loaded!! Still 0 outs! Our bats came to play tonight! Just don't hit into any double-plays!

:cockybaseball: :cockybaseball: :cockybaseball: :cockybaseball:

George Callil hits into a fielder's choice - he also tried to hit it past the pitcher, but the Gator snagged it, and throws out Eyster at home easily. 1 out.

Brady Allen pops out at 2B. 2 outs.

Braylen Wimmer SINGLES INTO RIGHT FIELD!! 2 RBI's!! SCORES HEINRICH AND BURGESS!! 3-2 Gamecocks!

Sightler gets a hit! There's a play at 1st - he's called OUT!!! Coach Kingston leaps out of the dugout in the middle of the call being made! He demands a review on the call. This would score another run.

The review is made! The call is OVERRULED! Callil scores!! 4-2 Gamecocks!!

Clarke strikes out for the final out, but not before 4 runs are scored on 6 hits!! Go GAMECOCKS!!

4-2 Gamecocks top 3rd inning.....

4-2 Gamecocks 3rd inning:

Another rough start to an inning for Thomas: the lead-off batter reaches 1st safely on a bad throw from Callil at Short - that's a Gamecock error. The next Gator batter singles to 3rd.

The next batter grounds out for the 1st out, but both base-runners advance to 3B and 2B, with 1 out.

The next batter pops out to Short - Callil had to back up to field the out, and was not able to throw to home, but the out scores the 3rd run for Florida - a throwing error, an infield hit, a ground-out to advance the runners, and another infield hit works the run scored for Florida. Man on 2B, 2 outs.

The next batter is walked on a full count. Farr has struggled with location in this game. He's thrown 68 pitches through 2.2 innings.

Getting really dangerous here - Florida's top hitter who has a .400 average, is up next.

Farr strikes him out looking to end the threat!!! Don't know how much longer Thomas will last - lets keep the offensive heat on Florida's pitcher.

Mendham led off the 2nd inning, and now leads off again in the 3rd:

He singles this time!! David has the hot bat tonight, but so does most of the other Gamecocks.

Eyster singles into shallow right!! Here we go again!!!!

:cockybaseball: :cockybaseball: :cockybaseball: :cockybaseball:

Heinrich is up next. He hit a RBI single last inning. CRAP - he hits into the double play - lines it to 2nd, who tosses to the SS at 2B to get Mendham out who was advancing to 2nd.

Burgess hits up the middle into the fielder's choice - Eyster is out at 2nd.

The Gamecocks have 9 hits through 3 innings. Hope they keep it up.

4-3 Gamecocks top 4th inning.....

4-3 Gamecocks top 5th inning:

Not much doing for either team in the 4th inning. Thomas Farr takes the mound with the lead. A reliever is ready to go.

He strikes out the lead-off batter, but walks the next two batters. He now has 105 pitches thrown, and this may be it for him. Coach Meade goes out to find out what he has left.

No, they leave him in. Gators on 2B and 1B, with 1 out.

The next batter singles up the middle. The bases are loaded with 1 out. Playing with fire now.

The next batter hits a 2-RBI single. Coaches Kingston and Meade rolled the dice on Farr, and it came up snake eyes.

Now they bring in Jack Mahoney for Farr.

Mahoney inherits Farr's Gators on the corners, and 1 out. The first batter he faces reaches on a fielder's choice, scoring the run. 2 outs now, with the man on 1st, but it is 6-4 Florida.

BUT WAIT! Coach Kingston comes out to protest. He says the Gator base-runner from 1st came into 2nd standing up, and that interfered with the double-play attempt back to 1st. According to the guys on the radio broadcast, Kingston was told by the crew chief last week for the Vanderbilt series that it came down from the Birmingham SEC office that such a case could be called for interference. Kingston asked the crew tonight to review with the Birmingham office, and they do.

After a rather long conversation, the umpire comes out and THE CALL IS RULED INTERFERENCE ON THE FLORIDA RUNNER! It is therefore ruled as a 2nd out on the play, and therefore a double-play. Take the run offf the board, and the inning is done, but Florida still leads by one.

A new Florida comes in for the bottom 5th. Mendham lines out. Eyster grounds out, Heinrich flies out....

5-4 Florida top 6th inning.....

5-4 Florida top 6th inning:

Mahoney back in. He gets the lead-off batter to strike out. But the next batter singles, and the next batter is walked. Mahoney is struggling to find location, just like Farr. He's allowed to stay on the mound.

Next batter is walked and the bases are loaded. Kingston is going to let the game get away from us.

Finally, the call is made. Daniel Lloyd comes in. Bases loaded with 1 out, and our bullpen has NOT had the greatest record of coming in and just shutting down whoever from the start. They generally tend to give up a hit or a walk to start before settling down. This is why I think this was at least one batter too late to go for the pen.....

We have given up 8 walks through 5.1 innings. Just not good.

The first batter flies out for a sac fly out, scoring the run. 6-4 Gators, with 2 outs.

The Gamecocks had the 4 runs scored in the 2nd inning, and 9 hits through 3 innings. It's just had 1 single hit since.

Lloyd walks the next batter to reload the bases again. Our pitching has had a rough night. The Gators haven't really hit us well tonight, but our arms are giving them all the help they could possibly stand.

The next batter hits a infield dribbler between the 3 and 4 gap - Mendham fields it and throws to Lloyd who covers 1st, and he gets the final out.

6-4 Florida, bottom 6th.....

6-4 Florida, bottom 6th inning:

Burgess, Callil, and Allen up next. Burgess flies out. Callil strikes out looking - his signature at-bat. Allen grounds out. The bats have gone cold at the worst time of the game......

6-4 Florida, top 7th......

6-4 Florida top 7th inning:

The inning is representative of so many innings this season for the Gamecocks: with Lloyd still on the mound, with 1 out Lloyd hits the next batter. Back-to-back singles scores the hit batter.

7-4 Florida, bottom 7th inning:

Back-to-back doubles from Wimmer and Sightler pulls South Carolina closer 7-5, with 0 outs. A new pitcher comes in for Florida - he gets the first 2 outs, but Sightler advances to 3rd. Eyster singles scoring Sightler. We're hanging around, but our pitching needs to put a couple of goose eggs up there....

7-6 Florida, top 8th inning.....

7-6 Florida, top 8th inning:

Lloyd still in. He walks the lead-off batter (*sigh*)....

But he retires the side with no damage with two fly outs and a strike out.

In the bottom 8th:

Burgess singles to lead off. Our bats are still here. Callil bunts, and the pitcher muffs it! Callil is safe, and we have Gamecocks on 2B and 1B with 0 outs.

Allen sacrifice bunts to push them over to 3B and 2B, with 1 out now.

Wimmer doubles scoring Burgess! We're tied now with men on 3B and 2B with 1 out!

Sightler pops up to short. 2 outs.

Clarke is walked. Not sure why these days.

Mendham fouls out to 3rd - pretty good damage control for the Gators, but the game is tied now.

7-7 tied, top 9th....

7-7 top 9th inning:

Andrew Peters comes in for Lloyd. He walks the lead-off Florida batter. See what I mean???? 11 walks now issued by Gamecock pitchers tonight.

Peters strikes out the next batter. Strikes out the next batter. 2 outs now.

Heinrich loses the high pop-up at 3rd, the batter advances to 2nd on the error, man on 2nd advances to 3B. Man, Cardiac Cocks at their finest......

Pressure on Peters now. The count goes full. Peters strikes out the batter for the final out!!

Now lets end this right here!

:cockybaseball: :cockybaseball: :cockybaseball: :cockybaseball:

7-7 bottom 9th inning......

7-7 top 10th inning:

Peters still in. WOW. Yes, of course. He walks the lead-off batter. Peters has thrown 32 pitches.

The next batter flies out on the first pitch. Thank you. The next batter strikes out in 3 pitches. Thank you.

Just heard on the radio broadcast - that Vanderbilt Leiter kid pitcher that no-hit us last weekend. He threw 7 no-hit innings tonight versus Missouri. He only threw for 7 innings. Goodness gracious.

The next Florida batter grounds out in 3 pitches, for the final out. OK, NOW let's go!

7-7 bottom 10th.....

7-7 bottom 10th inning:

Top of the order up for the Gamecocks. Allen singles! The throw gets past the 1st basemen, but they recover quickly. Allen however turns towards 2nd, slips trying to get back to 1st, and is caught out between the bases. 1 out.

Wimmer strikes out. 2 outs. Sightler strikes out.

7-7 top 11th inning.....

7-7 top 11th inning:

Peters still in there. He gets the lead-off batter to LINE OUT!! Finally we get the lead-off guy out of the fricking inning!!! The next two batters line out and flies out to end the inning in order for the Gators. THANK YOU!!!

Bottom 11th inning:

Clarke, Mendham, and Eyster up next for the Yardcocks. They are a combined 5-14 for the game, but Clarke is 0-4. Here's where he gets his due!!

Clarke flies out. The Florida pitcher is their #1 closer I think. He's a pretty good pitcher, but he's now over 50 pitches.

Mendham strikes out.

Eyster grounds out.

7-7 top 12th......

7-7 top 12th inning:

Peters still in there. The lead-off batter singles. The next batter strikes out. The Gator base-runner on 1st steals 2B. The Gator batter he steals on pops up for the 2nd out.

The next batter is walked after a long at-bat battle. Peters has been in there for a looong while. He has thrown 72 pitches as a middle reliever...

The next batter grounds out....FINALLY!! Peters has pitched heroically tonight! Come on guys, lets get him a win tonight!!!

7-7 bottom 12th....

7-7 Bottom 12th inning:

A new pitcher comes in for Florida - thank God! That guy was too good. But the bottom of the Gamecock order is up next.

Heinrich grounds out. Burgess pops out. Callil strikes out - he swings the bat this time.

7-7 top 13th inning....

7-7 top 13th inning:

Julian Bosnic comes in for Peters. I thought this - after the above Sunday's projected starter was listed as "TBD", and after Brett Kerry came in last Sunday against Vanderbilt, and pitched spectacularly, I was thinking that Kerry may end up as the Sunday starter, and Bosnic may move to the bullpen. Just hope that Bosnic takes this "demotion" well, and comes in fired up to go.

Bosnic hits the lead-off batter. Oh boy.....

The next batter strikes out. The next batter strikes out. The next batter bunts back to Bosnic - he tosses him out at 1st. An easy inning even with the hit batsman.

7-7 bottom 13th inning. Wonder how long will this go.....
