Kingston was pretty upbeat on Carolina Calls last night like he knows what he's got in the team at this point and likes what he sees.

0-0 bottom 2nd inning:

David Mendham leads off the inning by striking out. Colin Burgess singles, and Jack Mahoney is walked.

George Callil is also walked to load the bases with only 1 out. The top of the order is up next.

Brady Allen singles and scores Burgess - Mahoney moves up to 3rd. Braylen Wimmer strikes out for the 2nd out.

Josiah Sightler is up next: a wild pitch to Sightler scores Mahoney, and everyone advances a base.

Sightler lines out to the shortstop, but the Gamecocks take the lead.

2-0 South Carolina, top 3rd......

I watched the last three innings, and there was very little discipline at the plate. Our guys were swinging at just about everything. I hope they correct that tomorrow.

The score is the opposite of what you would have expected given the ERAs of the starting pitchers.

FridaySouth Carolina Thomas Farr (R-Jr. RHP) 2-1, 2.97 ERA, 16 BB, 52 SOMissouri Seth Halvorsen (R-So., RHP) 3-1, 6.48 ERA, 27 BB, 37 SO

Hopefully we do better the rest of the weekend.
