Carolina added a pair in the eighth on a Wimmer RBI single and Josiah Sightler RBI groundout.

Brannon Jordan picked up his fourth win on the mound, allowing just two hits and a run with eight strikeouts and four walks in five innings of work. Daniel Lloyd earned his first save of the season, pitching four scoreless innings with four hits and a pair of strikeouts.

A strong response from the Gamecocks to win the series, out-scoring Missouri 24-5 in the final 2 games after losing Game 1 7-2.

The pitching was strong – they gave up 10 hits to the Tigers, but only 4 runs and collected 15 strikeouts with 0 walks. Brett Kerry (3-0) picked up the win coming in for Will Sanders in the top of the 5th inning.

Andrew Eyster was 2 for 2 with 2 walks and a home run – his 7th on the season – in the bottom 8th inning and drove in 3 runs. David Mendham was 1 for 2 with 2 walks and also drove in 3 runs. Brennan Milone was 1 of 4 but hit his first homerun of the season in the bottom 2nd, and drove in 2 runs. Brady Allen got things started with a lead-off double to open the game in the bottom 1st inning, and went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a RBI and 3 runs scored. Allen hit 6 for 11 for the series, and drove in 6 runs....

Apparently there's an issue developing with the Baseball program, about Gamecock fans being moderated or even harassed by event staff at home games for heckling at opposing teams. There have even been a number of players who have spoken out against it on social media. Don't know what that is all about, and hope it is something that passes......

In the last 48 hours, Ray Tanner and Mark Kingston have released statements that the home field advantage the fans are creating is great. They do not want the taunts and heckling to get too offensive (racism, threats, fight invites) but are otherwise fine with the disruptions. What I have heard is the event staff at Carolina Field has been overzealous in maintaining decorum to the point they are ejecting fans and students for swearing and being “too loud.”

i have not been to the park this year and have no first-hand knowledge of the situations. They had to stop the game today to cool down the back and forth between the hecklers and the tigers

Thanks for the response, House. I guess the diminished crowds due to covid restrictions may make some “comments” stand out more than they may have in the past with full houses. But heckling has always been part of the lifeblood of baseball. I think the phrase, “You’re a BUM!!” may have been coined by a baseball fan, LOL.

The series this weekend between Ole Miss and Arkansas at Ole Miss registered Mississippi’s program its 4th and 5th all-time largest game attendances, I understand. They had some 11K at yesterday’s game. Some programs are already wide open, while others (like us) are still restricting.

But as long as players from opposing teams are going to grab their crotches at the fans (Florida) and give as good as they get, it’s kinda unfair IMO for the event staff in our own house to single our fans out, when we know the staff at opposing team’s venues will not do the same….

Event staff got carried away and it has happened multiple times this year.   As usual Tanner was out of touch and late to respond. They actually tossed some fans today then allowed them back in.

The bats got hot right after I started listening to the game on the radio, so I take full credit for the win.  LOL

Great win.

Kerry has been through a rough stretch lately and kudos to Kingston for letting him stay in long enough to get the win and boost his confidence.

It's not just baseball.  I saw it starting to happen last year at the CLA.  There was a loudmouth about 10 rows above me and one of the yellow coats started looking at me suspiciously like it was me when it clearly wasn't.  Then another yellow coat started to harass me when I was hanging out listening to Frank's PG with Derek after the same game.

It was one of the late games that went to OT.  Not sure if they were cranky because of that or what, but I must admit I did take satisfaction in knowing they got put out of work by the Covid protocols.

I personally think we need a rowdy but sane atmosphere at Founders Park, but the yellow coats may need some extra training for that to happen.

Even the announcers yesterday mentioned some fans being ejected.  I think heckling is fine as long as it is not offensive - foul language, racial slurs, etc.  I hope our fans are allowed to create a home field advantage as long as it's not over the line.
