ALLEN DELIVERS IN MISSOURI SERIES

His three-run home run on Saturday got the Gamecocks on the board in the fifth inning. Allen then drove in four runs in Sunday's 13-4 win over the Tigers. On the season, Allen leads the team with a .320 batting average and has nine home runs and 27 RBI.

Another potential trap game for us based on CS's record.

Hopefully we get a solid win out of this one.

Gamecocks take a 2-0 lead in the bottom 1st, starting with lead-off batter Brady Allen getting on base via getting hit with a pitch. After Braylen Wimmer flies out for the 1st out, Josiah Sightler singles moving Allen to 3rd. Wes Clarke hits up the middle on a fielder's choice RBI - he's safe at 1st and Allen scores, but Sightler is out at 2nd. Then Andrew Eyster doubles to deep center, driving Clarke home all the way from 1st. David Mendham flies out for the final out.

2-0 Gamecocks, top 2nd.......

2-0 Gamecocks, bottom 3rd inning:

A new pitcher comes in for the Buccaneers, their 3rd one. They are doing the new pitcher for every inning deal. Sightler flies out and Clarke strikes out for the first 2 outs. Eyster singles. David Mendham hits a 2-RBI Home Run to left field, and the score has been doubled.

Colin Burgess grounds out for the final out.

4-0 Gamecocks, top 4th......

4-0 Gamecocks bottom 4th inning:

Jack Mahoney is pitching quite well, shutting down the Buccaneers' bats.

A new pitcher comes in for Charleston Southern. He walks the bases loaded. His day is done.

The 5th pitcher settles in for the Bucs.

Wimmer hits to 3rd, he tosses back to home to get Brennan Milone out at the plate.

SIGHTLER HITS A GRAND SLAM HOME RUN TO CLEAR THE BASES!!!

Still 1 out. Clarke strikes out. Eyster lines out. But the Gamecocks again double up on their score.

8-0 Gamecocks, top 5th.......

8-0 Gamecocks bottom 5th inning:

Mahoney has continued to pitch strongly. He has thrown 65 pitches through 5.0 innings.

In the bottom of the inning, Mendham leads with a double. Burgess is walked. Milone is walked, and the bases are loaded again in back-to-back innings, with 0 outs. The Buc pitchers are walking our batters now in droves - 6 for the game, but 5 of them in only 1.0 innings' worth of outs.

A new pitcher comes in....

George Callil is up next. He hits into another fielder's choice at 3rd, and Mendham is out at home. Burgess and Milone advance a base. Allen flies out but drives in Burgess. Milone advances to 3rd.

Wimmer grounds out. All things considered, Charleston Southern managed some solid damage control, to get out of that bases-loaded, no-outs situation with only the one sacrifice fly RBI. But South Carolina tacks on another run to their lead.

9-0 Gamecocks, top 6th.......

9-0 Gamecocks, top 6th inning:

Jackson Phipps comes in for Jack Mahoney. Mahoney pitched a sterling game: 5.0 innings of 1-hit shut-out ball, with 7 strikeouts and only 1 walk. He's in line for the win.

Phipps settles in. Two ground-outs and a strike-out later, and the inning is retired in order.

Bottom 6th inning:

Brandon Fields pinch-hits for Sightler. He's hit with a pitch. Clarke is hit by pitch as well. Time for a new Buccaneers pitcher.

Eyster lines out on the first pitch. Mendham singles to load the bases AGAIN for the 3rd straight inning, but this time with 1 out. Burgess spoils the fun by hitting into an inning-ending double-play. Despite totally having this game well in hand, the score could be much, much better than it is for USC....

9-0 Gamecocks top 7th.......

9-0 Gamecocks top 7th inning:

Fields takes center - Allen moves to right, and Eyster to left.

Wesley Sweatt comes in for Phipps. He retires the side around a single - Charleston Southern's 2nd hit of the game.

bottom 7th inning:

Milone leads off with a single. Callil flies out. Allen pops up. Jalen Vasquez pinch-hits for WImmer. Vasquez strikes out to end the inning....

9-0 Gamecocks top 8th......

Since Charleston Southern has emptied their bench, this would be a good time for Coach Kingston to do so as well. Only Fields and Vasquez have gotten into the game thus far......

9-0 Yardcocks, bottom 8th inning:

Fields takes the batter's box. He works the count to 3-0, but three strikes later he sits back down, still looking for his first collegiate base hit.

Clarke grounds out. He's now hitting below .300 on the season. He probably could stand to sit for a game or two and re-energize, but he still hits the occasional HR even with the prolonged batting slump. Connor Cino pinch-hits for Eyster. Cino is walked.

The designated pinch-runner Noah Myers pinch-runs for Cino.

Mendham flies out for the final out.

9-0 Yardcocks, top 9th......

9-0 South Carolina, top 9th inning:

Magdiel Cotto comes in for Julian Bosnic, who came in for Sweatt for the 8th inning.

The lead-off Buccaneer batter singles.

The next batter strikes out Out #1

The next batter lines out to Short Out #2

The next batter singles. There are men on the corners for Charleston Southern, with 2 outs.

The next batter strikes out for the final out Out #3

The 11th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks (22-9) defeat the Charleston Southern Buccaneers (10-14) 9-0.......
