Game in progress recap:

The scoring begins in the 2nd inning: top of the 2nd, Josiah Sightler doubles with 1 out, and David Mendham singles moving Sightler to 3B. Wes Clarke then pulls a 3-RBI home run to left field to clear the bases.

In the bottom 2nd inning, the Rebels respond - Will Sanders is a bit wild today: a 1-out single steals 2B and advances to 3B on a wild pitch. The next batter ultimately strikes out for the 2nd out, but the next singles in the run. Then THAT base-runner advances to 2B on another wild pitch, and the next batter is walked putting two men on. The next batter singles driving in the 2nd run of the inning before the Rebels are retired.

3-2 Gamecocks top 3rd:

In the bottom 3rd, Sanders hits the lead-off batter, and the next batter hits a 2-RBI home run to give the Rebels the lead. Brett Kerry comes in for Sanders, and retires the side, but the Rebels now lead looking to sweep the Gamecocks.....

4-3 Rebels, top 4th inning......

The Gamecocks tied the game up in the top 5th inning 4-4 off of a lead-off double from Callil, then a RBI single to drive him in from Brady Allen. But the Rebels strike back in the bottom of the inning with 2 runs of their own off of 4 hits against Kerry.

6-4 Ole Miss, top 6th inning.....

Not  good series.  We have a really tough ending to our schedule and the Gamecocks will have to find ways to win some series.

We really shouldn't be having trouble with hitting like we are this late in the season.
