POSTGAME NOTES

  • Jaret Bennett made his first appearance as a Gamecock on the mound. He pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
  • Wes Clarke is now tied with Florida's Jud Fabian for the SEC home run lead with 18.
  • Eyster had his second multi-home run game against Mississippi State in his career. He had a pair in the 2019 regular-season finale in Starkville.

The game is tied 2-2 in the 5th inning. Thomas Farr went the furthest of any of the weekend starters, but only got through 4.0 innings. Brett Kerry is now in the game.

David Mendham has provided the scoring for the Gamecocks, hitting a 2-RBI home run in the bottom 2nd inning. The Bulldogs tied it up with a 2-out sac fly RBI after a lead-off triple in the top 3rd, and then a solo lead-off home run in the top 5th. That home run brought in Kerry from the bullpen......

Great day and awesome win.  Bottom of the 9th to send to extras then in the 11th for the win.

The South Carolina Gamecocks salvage a win out of the series with an extra-inning 4-3 win over Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The Gamecocks needed to first tie the game at 3-3 all, and accomplished that in the bottom of the 9th inning. Colin Burgess and Wes Clarke led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Noah Myers pinch-ran for Burgess, as the Bulldogs went to their bullpen.

After Michael Robinson popped up for the first out, Jeff Heinrich doubled down the right line scoring Myers to tie the game at 3-all.

The game then extended into the 11th inning, where in the bottom 11th the Gamecocks came through. Heinrich continued his heroics with a 1-out single, then David Mendham doubled to left center to drive in Heinrich for the winning run.

Julian Bosnic (3-2) got the win after coming in to pitch the 11th for Brett Kerry. Kerry pitched 6.0 innings allowing only 1 run on 4 hits, with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks. He contained the Bulldog scoring to give his team a chance.
