Ok Ladies, it's Turney time.  Time to get it in gear.  It all comes together starting now!  Go Cocks!

The Gamecocks jump out to a big lead behind red hot shooting from the entire team, but mostly from the guards Destanni Henderson and Zia Cooke, as they lead 26-6 after one period. Henderson has 7 points on 3-3 shooting, and Cooke has 8 pts on 3-4 shooting, as the Gamecocks shot 10-14 (71.4%) for the quarter, while holding Alabama to 3-13 (23.1%) shooting. The Gamecocks jumped out to a 12-0 score, and the Tide didn't score their first points until right at the midway point of the quarter....

Just like that, as red hot as the Gamecocks shooting was, it goes cold. Alabama recovers to a degree, and out-scores the Gamecocks 20-16 in the 2nd Quarter, but the Gamecocks still lead 42-26 at the halftime. Cooke and Henderson are still leading the way with 12 and 10 points respectively, and have shot a combined 8-12 from the field, and 4-4 from behind the 3-pt. line.....

For the 2nd period in a row, Alabama out-scores South Carolina, but thanks to that huge 1st Quarter, the Gamecocks still lead 61-47 after 3 quarters. The Gamecocks are not necessarily shooting badly - they shot 9-17 (52.9%) in the 3rd Qtr., but Alabama shot 7-11 (63.6%), and the Gamecocks committed 7 fouls in the period, sending the Tide to the free throw line for 7 free shots, of which they made 6....

Women’s basketball is painful to watch.  I’m not sure if this or a cornhole tournament is less athletic.

South Carolina is going to lose this game. They have no idea how to be a basketball team right now.....

I'm not sorry I posted this, LOL. Right after I posted it, USC went 4 for 4 from the field, and held Alabama to 0 field goals for the final 5 minutes, and scoreless for the final 2 minutes. I'll take credit for that.

The Gamecocks did not play well for the final three quarters of the game, but thanks to their stellar 1st quarter where they out-scored the Tide 26-6, they escape with the win against Alabama 75-63, and survive and advance to the SEC Tournament Semifinals. The Gamecocks are now 20-4, 14-2 on the season.

The Gamecock guards led the way tonight: Zia Cooke shot 9-17 for 22 pts, with 3 rebounds and 2 steals, and Destanni Henderson shot 7-10 for 18 pts along with 5 assists. Aliyah Boston also had a solid game with 16 pts on 6-12 shooting, with 13 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Gamecocks will now face the winner of the next game between #3 Seed Tennessee and #11 Seed Mississippi, which should tip off in about 30 minutes...

Nice to hear our fans for a change in the last minutes of the fourth quarter.  I really think it shored up the team's confidence enough for the win.

Hopefully there's more fan noise for what I expect will be us vs. the Vols tomorrow.

Don't be sorry.  I was going to post that they didn't have an identity before the game started but didn't want to sound pessimistic.  Glad they won but they could be so much better.

Yep, that's one of the frustrating things about this team. The have the talent evidenced by their play the first quarter.  They were locked in, they were focused, and they executed.  They played defense with some intensity, they made layups on fast breaks...and then it just sort of slipped away.  They really don't seem to have anyone on the floor who can fire them up -- there seems to be a void from Kiki's emotional presence last year.
