2022 composite 5* and national #1 Dual Threat QB prospect Gunner Stockton has committed to the Gamecocks today, per his twitter account:


Stockton plays for Rabun County out of Tiger, Georgia. He has had a longstanding relationship with both Connor and Jaybo Shaw, as well as with the Bobo family of George and his son Mike, who is now the Offensive Coordinator at USC. Jaybo Shaw is Stockton's high school head coach, so even though it came down to USC and UGA as the final two programs vying for Stockton's services, the Gamecocks have held a large lead for some time.

Stockton also held offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Miss State, Missouri, Ole Miss, UNC, NC State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn St., SoCal among others.

Curiously, Gunner is the nationally ranked #1 Dual Threat QB per 247sports, and the nationally ranked #2 Pro-Style QB per Rivals for the 2022 cycle, so we have it covered with this kid.

When was the last time we had this many quarterbacks period.  When Muschamp got there we had a walk on and a baseball player.  I hope they can make the pieces work and Champ will let Bobo run the show on offense.  

 
Rivals interview with Stockton, prior to committing to SC, but after he had narrowed his choices to GA and SC.  Seems like a nice, humble kid.  The Shaw family connections continue to pay off for the Gamecocks.



 
Heard some internet chatter that he might be pulling some big name WRs towards SC

He looks like a stud but I do have one question, how good is the competition he plays against?  I also keep hearing he isn’t that tall.  How y’all is he?  If he is 6’ or above, then he is plenty y’all enough to succeed in modern football.

People said the same thing about Zion Williamson. Talked to a kid this summer who played against him. Said Zion's talent is unreal. If he is ranked that highly, he's got to be good
