2024 QB Jayden Bradford made a return trip to Columbia to watch Gamecocks, and now has some top schools in mind
SPORTSTALK / October 25, 2022Chapin native and IMG QB Jayden Bradford (6-0 185) took in his second USC game this season at Williams-Brice Stadium Saturday night. After watching the Gamecocks lose in person to Georgia in September, he got to see them win in October over Texas A&M. Shane Beamer and Marcus Satterfield have been on Bradford since they arrived in Columbia in 2020, and he continues to feel very good about the Gamecocks.
‘They will always be one of my top schools because of they are the hometown school, and it was just fun to be back,” Bradford said. “They really impressed me with the win and it was fun to be there. I overall like South Carolina a lot. I would say my top schools are NC State, Penn State, Louisville and South Carolina.”
Bradford said the trip was enjoyable for several reasons because he got the chance to see his family and friends back in Chapin, and he got the chance to get reaquainted with the Gamecock staff.
“I talk to them on the phone a lot, but just to see them face to face again was good,” Bradford said. “Just catching up and seeing each other again. They were just telling me that I’m having a good season, doing pretty well and just balling out. Obviously, it was a crazy stadium. It was super loud in there. It was wild and I had a great time.”
Bradford, of course, kept a close eye on the offense, and though the Gamecocks didn’t run up huge numbers, he was nonetheless impressed.
“They definitely opened it up more and opened up the playbook I feel like,” he said. “MarShawn Lloyd has been running really, really well and the offensive line has been doing a great job blocking up front. They are doing a great job moving the ball on offense, and I think it will continue to get better as the year goes on.”
Bradford has not been anywhere else for games this season other than his two trips to USC. He would like to get to some others if he can around his own schedule.
Through six games this season, according to stats on MaxPreps, Bradford has completed 49 of 62 passes for 801 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has not thrown in interception and has a quarterback rating of 159.6.
