There was a time when 3-star defensive end Brad Johnson wanted to make his decision and call off the recruiting process long before signing day. Circumstances dictated otherwise.
“I wanted to get it over with as soon as possible, but things didn’t work out the way I planned. With family issues and things like that, things got pushed back, pushed back to the last minute,” Johnson said.
Now, the Pendleton (S.C.) High School senior is going to take all the time he needs, within reason. He’ll take official visits to South Carolina and Tennessee, to go along with his trip to Virginia Tech.
That way, Johnson will “know 100 percent” what he wants to do.
“I’m going to try to put in all aspects of it, academic-wise, coaching-wise, player personnel-wise, campus life,” he said. “I’m trying to put all those things together and (figure out) what’s best for me, and narrow those things down.
“I’ll make a list of it. Whichever one fits best, I’m going to try to make that choice, follow my heart. A lot of prayers.”
South Carolina has long been considered as the favorite, though Virginia Tech poses the biggest threat.
