3 star TE/DE AJ Beatty 6'5" 250lbs of Pittsburgh is no stranger to the Palmetto State.  His grandmother lives part of the year in Myrtle beach so he travels frequently to the state in the summer months for visits.  Last Saturday he was back again, but this time it was to visit USC with the hopes of adding the Gamecocks to his long offer list.  Mission accomplished.

“Getting my first SEC offer was really big,” Beatty said. “I went to the game and it was awesome. The crowd was awesome. I thought the team looked extremely good. It was an awesome experience. Probably the one thing that stood out to me the most was the weight room. the size of it and how everything was really stood out to me. Their stadium is massive, I was not expecting it to be that big. It’s beautiful.”

Beatty said the Gamecocks like him for both tight end and defense end and would leave it up to him which position to pursue if he comes there.  Which is entirely possible at this point.

“It’s 100 percent one of my top schools, there’s no doubt about it,” Betty said adding that some other top schools with him right now are West Virginia, Pitt, North Carolina, Indiana, Syracuse, Boston College, Purdue and Rutgers.

Beatty said he will visit West Virginia this coming weekend and also plans to visit Boston College and possibly Indiana and North Carolina in coming weeks.

Beatty did not get a chance to talk much with Gamecock head coach Will Muschamp because of the spring game but he said he’ll be back in June, possibly on an official visit, to talk with him in more detail.
