South Carolina offers ‘home feel’
Four-star defensive tackle Alex Huntley 6'4" 295lbs was among the guests on campus at South Carolina late last month for the Gamecocks’ latest recruiting cookout.
“It was really fun. We got to do the little scavenger hunt on the golf cart, talk to the coaches, play some Fortnite a little bit, just have a great time, talk to the coaches,” Huntley said.
The sophomore from Hammond School (Columbia, S.C.) was joined by teammate Jordan Burch, a 4-star defensive end who’s the only prospect ranked ahead of Huntley in South Carolina, according to the 247Sports composite.
Fellow 2020 4-star defensive lineman Demonte Capehart (Hartsville, S.C.) also made the trip to Columbia that Saturday.
“I was with Demonte and Jordan and [Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp] was just pointing out that right there as a D-line together is something crazy,” Huntley said. “He’s just trying to keep us together and just trying to keep us there.”
The Gamecocks offer plenty of appeal for Huntley whose offer sheet also includes Arkansas, Georgia, Michigan, and Tennessee.
“South Carolina, one, it’s obviously close,” Huntley said. “It has a home feel. I connect really well with all the coaches, so that’s good. And they obviously have the new facility coming up, being built right now, so that will be good, too.”
