4-star Dylan Wonnum leaning another direction
August 16, 2017
The pursuit of Dylan Wonnum will continue through the fall, but South Carolina recruiting fans will want to read the latest on the 4-star offensive tackle.
On second thought, maybe not.
“I’m actually leaning toward Auburn,” Wonnum told SEC Country reporter Ben Wolk. “Other than that, everything is going good. When I went there, something just stood out more than every other college in the SEC.”
Wonnum, whose older brother, D.J., is a sophomore defensive end/outside linebacker at South Carolina, has long been considered a Gamecock lean.
However, the 6-foot-5, 279-pound prospect from Tucker (Ga.) High School is giving himself plenty of time to weigh out the pros and cons of all of his options, not just South Carolina and Auburn.
“It’s going to be after the season, so it’s probably going to be December,” Wonnum said of a commitment timeline. “I just felt like I need more time to make my decision. That was about it.”
Florida State, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee are also in the mix, but Auburn has the most contact, he added.
“I really like (offensive line) coach (Herb) Hand, and I like the way he coaches his players,” Wonnum said.
According to the 247Sports composite, Wonnum is ranked as the No. 9 offensive tackle in the Class of 2018.
