Carolina, Spurrier will coach for six more years. While Fromm said the Head Ball Coach made the statement in a joking manner, it certainly caught the attention of the 2017 prospect.

“It was great to hear him even joke about that,” Fromm told The State on Tuesday. “Coach Spurrier, he's one of the best of all time. Having him spend a lot of time with me and talk to me a lot, it meant a lot to me.”

Fromm, a 6-3, 220-pound junior whose Houston County team is off to a 3-0 start, said it would be a big honor to play for the former Heisman Trophy winner and a coaching legend.

“Coach Spurrier, he's one of the greatest,” Fromm said. “Having the ability to play for him one day would be very special.”

The Warner Robins, Ga., native attended his first game at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday and despite USC falling to Kentucky, he was impressed by what he saw.

The junior said he loved the gameday atmosphere and enjoyed taking in the action from the stands.

“I was glad to finally get to a game, watch how the coaches coach and watch how the players play,” he said. “It was good to see the atmosphere in the stadium and just get to spend a lot of time with fans and people around the program.”

While Fromm enjoyed all aspects of Carolina’s atmosphere, one tradition in particular stood out.

“I loved hearing and being a part of Sandstorm whenever they kicked off,” he said. “The fans were great. They were constantly cheering. It was just a great atmosphere to be in.”

Fromm said he is being recruited hard by Spurrier, quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus and linebackers coach Kirk Botkin.

“They see me as a good-sized quarterback and a leader, someone they have faith in to go win a ballgame,” he said. “I love having the ball in my hands when the game's on the line, and I'm someone who can make plays.”

Fromm, who is a pro-style quarterback, is down to a final three of South Carolina, Ole Miss and Alabama in no order. He will attend the Ole Miss-Alabama game Saturday in Tuscaloosa.

“I want to make a decision as soon as possible,” he said. “When I know I'll know. I'm trying to make a decision, but I just can't quite put a finger on it yet.”
