LEXINGTON, N.C. - Elite 5-star defensive tackle Shy Tuttle 6'3" 315lbs has high interest in a group of schools.

Shy Tuttle is one of America's best recruits.

Who sticks out for the No. 1 overall recruit in North Carolina?

“Really all the schools I guess,” Well (North) Carolina has always been one (I like), (North Carolina) State, Clemson. I like Florida State, Florida. I don’t know. There’s a lot.”

The Lexington (NC) North Davidson standout has 30 offers.

His most recent came from Texas on January 19.

“I was pretty excited,” Tuttle said.

The offer came from Longhorns defensive line coach Chris Rumph who recruited him while he was at Alabama.

“I thought he was a pretty cool coach. One of my favorites. First coach to recruit me,” said Tuttle.

The nation’s No. 3 defensive tackle is just starting to research the program and tradition at Texas.

“I don’t even know what its about,” Tuttle said. “Still learning.”

The nation’s No. 15 prospect has already been to a host of colleges.

“All the schools around here, Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio State,” Tuttle said. “I went to Georgia two weeks ago. I’m going to South Carolina in March. Florida State during my Spring Break, maybe Florida, too. If I don’t make it to Florida during Spring Break (I’ll go in the summer). Maybe to Texas (in the summer), probably won’t happen. Maybe for an official visit. Talking about that. I have to reschedule (a visit to) Tennessee.”

The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder broke down his thoughts on all of the recent and upcoming visits.

“Florida usually has a good defense,” Tuttle said. “Florida State not that bad. Pretty good this year. Florida (is) known for defensive linemen. (I know the) coach (that) used to coach at Carolina (defensive line coach Deke Adams). Great coach (for South Carolina). I don’t know. I just heard (Georgia) was pretty cool and it was. I’m not sure. It was kind of a weird feeling.”

He doesn't look so shy to me. Rather , it seems he likes getting up close and personal and introducing himself!
