2 star 6-1 175 lbs Jaylen Shaw of Hartsville said Friday he was offered by USC Thursday night. Shaw said Gamecock coach Frank Martin made the offer in person. "They just offered and told me what was going on," Shaw said. "I liked it. I was looking forward to it, expecting it. I didn't make any commitment. I'm still trying to make a decision." He said he won't make a decision until near the spring signing period which begins April 17th. He said he and Martin did not talk about an official visit to USC. Shaw has taken official visits to Tulane and High Point, to whom he was once committed, and he was scheduled for a visit to Miami of Ohio this weekend. He said he's not sure if he'll make that visit. Shaw said he will play in an all star game Saturday night at Benedict College

Tigers join fray for Shaw

04/01/13

6-1 Jaylen Shaw of Hartsville followed up another large all star performance by landing another large offer. In mid March Shaw scored 24 points and earned SC MVP honors in the Carolina's All Star Classic. That led to an offer from USC coach Frank Martin last week. Saturday in the City vs The State All Star Game, Shaw scored 36 points and was co-MVP for the State Team. That performance was followed Sunday by an offer from Clemson's Brad Brownell. Brownell visited Shaw last week. Shaw also has offers from Tulane, Virginia Tech, Miami of Ohio, High Point and Coastal Carolina. He is publicly maintaining a no lean posture at this point and hopes to have a decision by the start of the spring signing period April 17th.
