6-2 guard LaShay Page, a former prep star at Latta and Dillon High Schools, is seeking a transfer to USC from Southern Miss a source said Sunday night. Page has graduate from Southern Miss and has been granted his release. He has requested a family hardship waiver from the NCAA for immediate eligibility. The source said Gamecock coach Frank Martin is on board with taking Page as a transfer. Page averaged over 31 points per game as a senior at Dillon. He spent one season at Chipola JC, FL and averaged nearly 15 points per game. He played the last two seasons at Southern Miss. This past season Page averaged about 12 points and 3 rebounds per game.

Page gets release from Southern Miss

6-2 guard LaShay Page is a step closer to being able to transfer to USC after being granted his release from his scholarship from Southern Miss. The Jackson Clarion-Ledger reported today USM coach Donnie Tyndall met with Page four or five times in an effort to convince him to play his senior season in Hattiesburg. The coach gave Page a list of ten schools closer to his home to which he could transfer. A source said Page plans to ask the NCAA for a waiver due to family issues that will allow him to play right away. Page has one season of eligiblity. link: http://www.goupstate...9900/-1/PSPORTS

Page will visit USC next week

6-2 Southern Miss transfer LaShay Page will send his transcript to USC Wednesday morning and will take an official visit with the Gamecocks next week. And Page said Tuesday night a commitment to the Gamecocks couid be made on the visit. "There's a strong possibility on a commitment," Page said. "South Carolina is definitely my frontrunner. If I like the coaching staff, I may commit to them." Page has been in regular contact with USC and knows he's wanted by them. "South Carolina is very interested,' he said. "Obviously, they said they have a scholarship for me and they would love to have my presence since I have NCAA experience and I can contribute a lot to them next year." Virginia Tech is the other school Page is hearing from a lot. "They are very interested in getting me down there and they want my transcript," said Page adding he might schedule a trip to Blacksburg if he doesn't nail things down with the Gamecocks. Clemson also has been in contact with Page but he's not talked with them about taking a visit.

6-2 LaShay Page to visit USC Thursday

6-2 LaShay Page will make an official visit to USC Thursday with the strong possibility of a commitment to the Gamecocks while on the visit. Page is transferring from Southern Miss and USC will be his first visit. And quite possibly his last. Page said last week USC was his strong favorite and if everything checks out for him on the visit, he likely would commit. Virginia Tech and Clemson also have been showing interest in Page but USC has been the strongest on him. Page is a native of Latta. He will have one year of eligiblity and will appeal to the NCAA for a waiver to allow him to play right away. link: http://www.goupstate.com/article/20120620/PSPORTS02/120629969/-1/PSPORTS
