6-8 Daniel Hankins-Sanford of Charlotte committed to Gamecocks over ETSU and Georgia Southern

Nov. 09, 2021

On the eve of the early signing period, the South Carolina men’s basketball team landed a firm commitment. Daniel Hankins-Sanford, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward from Julius Chambers High in Charlotte, announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he is “110% committed” to the Gamecocks.

The early signing period for basketball begins Wednesday, and Hankins-Sanford joins a 2022 class that also includes in-state guard Zachary Davis, who committed to the Gamecocks in June. Hankins-Sanford is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports Composite rankings, and averaged 21.4 points and 9.9 rebounds in seven games for the Cougars last season. He took his official visit to Columbia the weekend the Vanderbilt football game.

The Gamecocks remain involved with 6-foot-5 prospect Desmond Claude of New Haven, Connecticut and 7-foot-1 Christian Reeves from Oak Hill Academy in Virginia for this class.
