#7 Ranked Women's Soccer team takes on Notre Dame

No. 7 South Carolina women's soccer takes on Notre Dame (6-0-0) at home and No. 20 Clemson (5-0-1) on the road, looking to continue the undefeated start to the season. Carolina will take on Notre Dame on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. on SEC Network before taking on the Tigers on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. on ACC Network.

I just checked....never mind, it doesn't look like this is their year.

You have to go back 20+ years to find a period when the men's team had any kind of national impact.  It's a shame.  Unfortunately I think the program has little visibility anymore since it is not a recognized sport in the SEC.  It exists simply because of Mark Berson -- for better or for worse.

1-0 Gamecocks at the half.  SC scored the game's only goal, so far, off of a penalty kick with a little under 5 minutes in the half for a hand ball in the box.

The first half included a 35 minute delay due to a proximity lightning strike.

Final score, 2-1 Gamecocks.  Always nice to get a win against the ACC.  We get another chance on Sunday, when we pay a visit to Clemson.  Never to early to lock in some Palmetto Series points.

Gamecocks suffered their first loss of the season yesterday, losing 1-0 to Clemson at Clemson giving the Tigers a point in the Palmetto Series competition.
