Four days of practice are behind the 88 players involved in the 72nd annual Touchstone Energy Bowl, and Saturday the two sides will clash at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. Kickoff will be at 12:30 PM. The game will feature some of the top senior players in South Carolina this season. The four quarterbacks in the game combined for over 12,000 passing yards this season. Chris Miller of Spartanburg is the North head coach and Ken Cribb of Johnson heads up the South team.

The South won last year 13-10 with Hartsville’s Tiyon Evans, who earned All-American honors as a freshman running back at Hutchinson JC, KS this season, rushing for 142 yards. That broke a three game winning streak for the North which still leads the series with 39 victories.

Here’s what both coaches had to say about their teams at the start of the week:

One of the highlights for all during the week is the Thursday shopping spree. Two players, one from each team, are paired with a Myrtle Beach area young person, and they go shopping together at Target with a $150 gift card in hand provided by Touchstone Energy. We caught up with some of the players and kids after they wrapped up their shopping.

The game will be carried across the state on the SportsTalk Radio Network. There also will be a stream of the broadcast available on SportsTalkSC.com and makethepointradio.com.
