A brother’s recruiting pitch, Colorado QB plans visit

December 28, 2017

No pressure, bro

During the last year or so, South Carolina defensive end/outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum has been consistent about the recruiting message he has for his little brother, 4-star offensive tackle Dylan Wonnum.

John Whittle of TheBigSpur wrote about the latest pitch from the elder Wonnum.

“Just to enjoy it and don’t let it get to you,” D.J. said. “Enjoy the process, go look at the schools, but at the end of the day, I still want you here.”

The younger Wonnum, a 2018 prospect from Tucker (Ga.) High School, remains unsigned. Several programs are on his radar, including South Carolina, Auburn and LSU.

“I’m always talking to him, but at the end of the day, it’s his decision,” D.J. said. “We still aren’t sure [where he’s going] yet. He’s going to take his visits, and then we’ll go from there.”

Next week, Dylan will participate in the Under Armour All-America Game. He and the rest of the game’s participants arrive in Orlando on Friday.

Three South Carolina signees are also playing in the annual game: 4-star cornerback Jaycee Horn, 3-star linebacker Rosendo Louis and 3-star center Hank Manos.

“[if] comes here, he’s got a great chance of playing early,” D.J. said of Dylan. “He’d have a great offensive line coach, and he’ll push you to your limits.”

According to the 247Sports composite, Dylan (6-foot-5, 279 pounds) is ranked as the No. 10 offensive tackle in the Class of 2018.
