Total Defense - 60th (Gamecocks are 51st). A&M has given up 2,190 yards which are 365/game and 5.14 a play. In terms of scoring, A&M is much better, tied at 23rd has given up 13 TDs in 6 games, and A&M is just as bad at stopping the run as the Gamecocks are a bit worse actually. 113th (Gamecocks 101st). A&M giving up around 189.5 yards per game.
That being said, A&M is quite good in the red zone. #3 in the country, 11 scores (7 TDs, 4 FGs) out of 18 attempts. A&M also is a top 25 in scoring defense. A&M is middle of the road in 3rd down conversion percentage (36%). Gamecocks are about the same in how often they convert. What I'm getting here is that A&M has a big bend but doesn't break-type defense. With the struggles of A&M offense, they are on the field a good bit. That explains the yards, but then again they are stout when they need to be.
I think the Gamecocks going to need to score in the 30-plus range to win this game.
