DB Toure Boyd of Chaffey JC, CA is one junior college defensive back waiting to hear from USC Monday about being admitted. A second in the same boat is 3 star Treston Decoud (6-3 206), a safety from Northwest Mississippi JC. Like Boyd, Decoud said he’s waiting to hear from USC secondary coach Grady Brown Monday to see if his transcript passed muster with USC admissions.

Decoud is from Hammond, LA and redshirted as a partial qualifier at Chadron State in Nebraska in 2012. He started 7 games there in 2013. He transferred to Nichols State in the spring of 2014 to be closer to his ailing mother who was fighting cancer, but when the NCAA did not grant him a waiver, he moved on to Northwest Mississippi where he had 38 tackles, 6 interceptions and earned All American honors this season. However, Decoud has two Ds on his transcript from Nichols State and he knows those credits won’t transfer to USC. He said he has a 2.8 GPA overall.

“Coach Brown wants to offer bad but he has to make sure it matches academically,” Decoud said. “I’m hoping for an offer. He wanted to offer me last Wednesday or Thursday. He’s just making sure it adds up academically. My dream has always been to play in the SEC and if they offer there’s a good chance they would be my number one school. They’re exactly what I’m looking for in a school.”

Decoud said he and Brown are talking about an official visit to USC January 23rd. He is scheduled to visit Oregon State this weekend, Louisiana-Lafayette January 23rd and Baylor January 30th.

Decoud is on track to graduate in May. He will have to years to play two.
