As you know, with something like this, there's rarely such thing as a sure thing, but from what I am hearing from different sides of this thing over the last few days, it's become fairly obvious to me that at this point it's Ray Tanner ... and then everyone else as far as the candidates go.
There's always a chance of a snag -- and President Harris Pastides actually isn't even in the country right now -- but it certainly feels like Ray Tanner is going to be the next AD at South Carolina, based on the information that I have.
It may be the second-worst kept secret in Columbia that for some time Tanner has wanted to be the athletic director after his coaching career is over. With the Gamecocks coming off three straight trips to the CWS Finals and, of course, the two national titles, Tanner could certainly say he went out on top.
