Gamecocks 2013 girls basketball commit center Alaina Coates (6-5) (Dutch Fork Highschool) has been named a 2013 Parade All-American. The Parade All-American team article is below. Alaina Coates is a program changing player. The thing that really stands out about Alaina Coates is that she committed EARLY to the Gamecocks and signed during the early basketball signing period. It great when a bigtime national recruit commits early to the Gamecocks because shows other national recruits that they believes in Coach Staley's and the future direction of the Gamecocks basketball program. The future is very BRIGHT for Coach Staley's Lady Gamecocks basketball team. The back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances by the Lady Gamecocks have been HUGE and part of the new winning "culture change" under Coach Staley's leadership. Coach Staley already has a commitment from instate national recruit 2014 5-star Kaydra Duckett (5-10) (Dreher Highschool), who has already won a state championship and listed by HoopGurlz as one of the top 20 players in the country. She is going to be a SPECIAL player for Coach Staley!
