I remember some years back that Princeton had a team in which their starters routinely played entire games without substitution.

The play of our guards has been the difference in this game.  Awful decision making and very little patience in the set offense.  Absolutely no transition ball. Not a single guard showed up tonight.

I switched the women's game off a halftime, only to hear Derek and the Judge in the men's pre-game when I turned it back on.

Woke up after midnight and googled the score.

Oh, well...

I decided not to post after the game last night because I was too ticked off.  Same old same old from a Frank Martin team.  Bad 2 point shooting, terrible 3 point shooting,  bad decision making, out of control shooting, out of control drives to the basket, break downs on defense, no flow to the "offense.  Did I mention terrible 3 point shooting?

Assuming that this continues all year Frank has to be let go.  This is year 10.

like the Gamecock size just the cold shooting spurts killed them last night. Hopefully better result next game.

Princeton ripped Rutgers-Camden 94-28 on 11-9 in the game before ours.

Here is the box score:

We lost the first half 31-25, but won the second half 37-35.

Our defense did its job against them as I thought it would, but they were better on the offensive side. A team that can consistently shoot from the perimeter will always beat a Frank Martin team (at least the ones that have been here) most of the time.

Notables
- Junior forward Wildens Leveque posted the first double-double of his career with 12 points and a game high 10 rebounds.  Through the first two games of the season, Leveque has hit 10-of-14 attempts from the field, and is averaging 9.0 rebounds per contest.
- Senior guard Erik Stevenson collected a career high six steals in the contest.  His 14 points vs. Princeton marked the 37th double-figure scoring game of his career.
- South Carolina held a 45-36 advantage on the boards, including a 19-9 upperhand in offensive rebounds.  Through the first two games of the season, Carolina holds a +13.5 rebound margin.

We are out-rebounding teams two games into the season and Frank has to be very happy with that.

The early invitational loss to Liberty in the 2019-20 season turned out not to be a bad loss for us.  I believe Liberty ended up being its conference's regular season champion and would have made it to the NCAAT if it had been played.

No FT attempts in the first half.  No penetration in the paint that drew fouls.  Then poor perimeter shooting.  Bad Guard play, for sure, but we didn't look that bad elsewhere.

Disappointing, but not the end of the world.  Keep playing the rest of the season and see what happens.
