USC coach Will Muschamp Wednesday pulled LB Damani Staley out of Ridge View High. In the future he might return to Perry Parks’ program for multi-position athlete Latheron Rogers-Anderson 6'0" 192lbs who recently transferred from Lakewood.
Rogers-Anderson can play running back and defensive back. He attended USC’s junior day last month and feels an offer from the Gamecocks could come his way this spring.
“It was a real welcoming experience,” Rogers-Anderson said. “All the coaches knew who I was and I wasn’t expecting that. I wasn’t expecting that much attention. It made me feel good about all the hard work I’ve put in.”
The Gamecocks have kept in touch with Rogers-Anderson and he’s been talking with Mike Peterson and Travaris Robinson.
“They said I can visit anytime and I’m welcomed there,” he said. “They told me I can run the ball and I can hit and what they are waiting to see is if I can cover someone in man coverage, so I’ve got to go to their camp and show out. An offer from anywhere is a great opportunity and I would appreciate it, but if I did get offered there it would mean a lot.”
Rogers-Anderson does have an offer from Old Dominion. He said he might return to USC for the junior day March 19th. The Gamecocks have not specified a position for him saying he could start out at the position of his choice.
