USC football coach Will Muschamp alerts his Twitter follows with a “Spurs Up” whenever he receives and accepts a commitment from a prospect.  So when Muschamp did not respond Sunday night on Twitter to an announcement from ATH Tancey Richardson of South Aiken of a commitment to the Gamecocks, questions were raised about what was going on.

Richardson made his public pronouncement before contacting Muschamp or recruiter Travaris Robinson.  He was offered by both after attending two day camps earlier this month and said Robinson wanted him to commit then but he held off from doing so.  And Monday night Richardson said he talked with Robinson and learned his commitment can’t be taken right now.

“He said he didn’t know if I would have a legitimate spot with all the commits that they’ve got, so I told him I’m just going to wait it out,” Richardson said.  “You know, wait and see who all they sign instead of making my decision because they wanted me to shut down my recruiting, but then again I wouldn’t know if I had a legitimate spot on the team.  He (Robinson) wanted me to shut my recruiting down.  That’s how he is.  And he has to talk to Coach Muschamp to see if I have a legitimate spot.  My coaches thought it was a little too early to be shutting my recruitment down.”

Richardson had made a decision to go with USC over Colorado State.  He was offered by Kent State on Monday and also has offers from Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern.

Richardson confirmed that his desire is to go to USC and that will be his plan if USC comes back with to him with an acceptance of the commitment.

Not really after the Gamecocks accepted three commitments from defensive backs, which were Tavyn Jackson (Tallahassee, Fla./James Rickards), Jaylin Dickerson (Southern Pines, N.C./Pinecrest) and Damarri Mathis (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland) the Gamecocks did filled their needs and the Staff never accepted his pledge. So will leave at that.
