Atlanta DB raves about South Carolina official visit, has new commitment date in mind

One of the last remaining recruiting targets for South Carolina’s 2019 class is cornerback Dequanteous Watts of Atlanta.
Over the weekend he made his official visit with his aunt and left with the Gamecocks in a good place with him. But there’s more recruiting ahead for him.
“The players and the coaches showed me how much they loved me and how much they want me to come there and possibly start as a true freshman,” Watts said. “They showed me the depth chart and showed me two of their seniors are leaving at DB so there’s a possibility I could be playing early.”
Watts got a chance to see the new football operations building and feels that will be a bonus for the program moving forward.
“The new building is going to bring a lot of recruits in,” he said. “They paid 50 million dollars into it. It’s real nice and brings a lot of attention to the table.”
Watts got a chance to meet with Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp before departing and heard the major pitch about why he should choose to play for him.
“He said he’s on me hard and he’s going to let me explore my other visits but he told me don’t worry about them at the end of the day, come to South Carolina and come change the game,” Watts said. “I feel great (about them). Yeah, they are on top because they are the first OV I took, but I’ve got two more I’ll take so I won’t know until the end of all of them.”
Watts will visit Oregon next weekend and is looking at Louisville or Maryland for the last visit. He had planned to announce Jan. 28, but now he will wait until around Feb. 3 or 4. Signing day is Feb. 6.
Watts said Muschamp will be in Atlanta on Wednesday with Bryan McClendon for an in-home visit. He’s also expecting coaches from Louisville, Maryland, Syracuse and West Virginia to visit next week.
