Babalade Back in the fold recommits to the Gamecocks
December 20, 2022The early Christmas presents keep sliding into the Gamecocks football facility as “National Signing Day” is just hours away. After receiving commitments from a pair of tight ends on Tuesday, the Gamecocks chopped down a big piece of its offensive line by reeling back in “Big Tree”.
Former commitment Oluwatosin Babalade (6-5 296) of Hyattsville, MD., announced on his social media Tuesday night that he is sticking with his initial commitment to the Gamecocks.
“It was really about the family part,” Babalade said when he first committed to the Gamecocks in August. “There’s a lot of schools that have the family part, but I felt it in the room with them. I just felt it the whole time. And the players, I just had whole conversations with them, and it was great.”
“They just like everything about me,” Babalade continued. “They just love me. I just like the energy from them,” Babalade said. “He (Adkins) said he really liked the way I moved. My film was great. He loves my size and how I can move, and he feels he can develop me to a better level.”
Babalade actually de-committed from The Gamecocks earlier this month, stating that he needed more time to think about things. However, after taking some time to mull over his decision, he went back to his original choice.
Babalade attends DeMatha Catholic High School, which has produced former Carolina running back MarShawn Lloyd and a slew of top-tier FBS talent over the years. He gives the Gamecocks four offensive linemen in their 2023 class.
