Baseball Hosts Georgia Tech for Sunday Scrimmage
10/16/2019 | Baseball
COLUMBIA - The University of South Carolina baseball team will host Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 20) beginning at 1:30 p.m. inside Founders Park in its second fall scrimmage against outside competition. All scrimmages are free and open to the public.

The weekend also is part of Alumni Weekend for the South Carolina baseball team. An event for the alumni will be on Friday (Oct. 18) at 6:30 p.m.

The Gamecocks will play its second scrimmage of the fall after facing North Carolina State in Raleigh at the end of September. The games in the fall do not count against the 56-game spring schedule.

Georgia Tech is coming off a 43-19 season in which the Yellow Jackets hosted the Atlanta Regional and were the overall number three seed in the NCAA Tournament. Michael Guldberg returns for Tech after hitting .355 last year while Luke Waddell had 12 doubles and 34 RBI in 2019. On the mound, Curt Roedig made 10 starts for Georgia Tech and struck out 47 batters in 48 innings pitched.

Fans are encouraged to park in the Foundation lot (centerfield grass lot off Blossom St.) and enter through either Gates 1, 2 or 4. The clear bag policy will be in effect and concessions will be offered at Founders Park. Live stats will be available for the scrimmage for fans who cannot attend on Saturday. There will be no live video stream for the game.

The Gamecocks will have an intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday (Oct. 17) at 3 p.m., which is free and open to the public.
